Frente 3 de Fevereiro
Sao Paulo (SP)
Bandeiras
[Flags], 2006
Traditionally, flags are part of organized soccer fan clubs. They are collectively produced, carried and unfurled in the bleachers. Like oversized posters, they proudly display the name of the fan club that made them. The size, in the competitive universe of soccer fan clubs, is a synonym of power – and also the assurance of a larger coverage during the television broadcast. The Frente 3 de Fevereiro collective appropriates these mechanisms of production and dissemination of information to carry out actions that emphatically deal with racism issues, the main investigation target of the group.

about the group
Frente 3 de Fevereiro is a multidisciplinary group of research and direct action about racism in Brazilian society. It creates new approaches and acts directly on information that involves racial matters. It connects the artistic legacy of generations that reflected about manners of interacting with the urban space, to the fight and historical resistance of Afro-Brazilian culture.
