Remoções Forçadas
[Forced Removals], 2013
The urban works stimulated by the Fifa World Cup and the Olympic Games brought about the forced removal, in Rio de Janeiro, of 19 thousand families from strategic areas of the city. In many of these operations, conducted savagely, the dwellers could only save their mattresses before their homes were torn down. By invitation from Amnesty International, the studio Radiográfico put in place an action in the Cinelândia neighborhood: over 60 screen-printed mattresses were spread over the square with information on the removal processes. The objects revealed for the passers-by the little evident effects of the big sporting events in the city.
